Medical Program UX Consultation Project
Contextual Inquiry
The Client
A competency program designed for working health professionals to expand their knowledge and become better educators and scholars within their fields. They achieve this by having students complete various competencies that satisfy different entrusbable professional activities to earn credit.
The Problem Areas
1. Unclear website structure causes user confusion as they search for resources needed to progress through the program.
2. Website requires frequent updates that should incorporate the feedback from its frequent users.
3. Due to Google site building limitations, users have a harder time accessing resources on their own.
The Process
By interviewing various stakeholders and frequent users of the site, we compiled an affinity wall to organize our notes and collect usable feedback to properly address the usability needs of the site and provide recommendations.
Recommendations
1.Reorganize navigation menu and page layouts based on users’ task flow. This way, they do not have to search between information that is unnecessary to access to the task at hand.
2. Immediately remove outdated information and encourage regular feedback to implement to the site as users find things to be more helpful.
3. Create password protected files and access for sensitive information and use an alternate repository to store other resources. Include a guide that is easily accessible as users begin to learn the site to help aide navigation confusion.
